The publisher of NowZones (canonical site https://nowzones.com) is the data controller for personal data processed through this website. Contact the controller at contact@nowzones.com.

Purposes and legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)

- Providing city times, converters, and related pages: Art. 6(1)(b) (steps at your request) and/or Art. 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in operating a public utility site).

- Security, abuse prevention, and server reliability (logs): Art. 6(1)(f).

- Language preference cookie (wc_locale): Art. 6(1)(f) / functional preference; documented as a preference cookie.

- Theme preference cookie (wc_theme): Art. 6(1)(f) / functional preference (light, dark, or system).

- Accent color cookie (wc_accent): Art. 6(1)(f) / functional preference (teal, blue, green, amber, rose, or violet).

- Consent cookie (wc_consent): necessary to record and honor your choices.

- Optional analytics (when enabled and you opt in): Art. 6(1)(a) consent.

- Google AdSense advertising cookies and related processing (when ads are enabled and you opt in): Art. 6(1)(a) consent. Advertising is denied by default until you Accept all or enable Advertising in Cookie settings.

Information we process

An account is never required: city times, differences, and converters work anonymously. Server logs may include IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamps. If you choose to create an account, we store your email address, the display name and avatar URL you provide, an optional ordered list of city board place slugs, an account role derived from your email domain, and creation and update timestamps. Account processing rests on Art. 6(1)(b) (performing the account you asked for) plus Art. 6(1)(f) for keeping sign-in secure and preventing abuse. Account data is kept while the account exists and deleted within 30 days of a deletion request to contact@nowzones.com; sign-in and verification records are pruned on the same schedule. Security and operations logs (auth access/attempts and server error events) are retained by default for 30 days (adjustable by administrators within a bounded range), then deleted. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and storage

wc_consent — stores cookie/ad choices; Necessary; retained 1 year.

wc_locale — remembers language preference; Functional preference; retained 1 year.

wc_theme — remembers color mode (light / dark / system); Functional preference; retained 1 year.

wc_accent — remembers accent color palette; Functional preference; retained 1 year.

Google AdSense cookies — serve and measure ads when advertising consent is granted; Advertising; retention per Google policies.

Your browser can block or delete cookies; some preferences may then reset. Use Cookie settings in the site footer (or the consent banner) to change or withdraw optional consent at any time.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

When ads are enabled and you have granted advertising consent, third parties — including Google — use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads on this site, measure their performance, and (where allowed) personalize ads. Google AdSense and related Google advertising services may collect or receive device and usage data as described in Google’s advertising and privacy documentation. Advertising cookies are off by default until you Accept all or enable Advertising in Cookie settings.

Analytics and diagnostics

When you opt in to Analytics, we run a first-party NowZones collector (no third-party analytics scripts). It records page path, template, approximate device class, referrer/UTM, locale, timezone-derived coarse region, session identifiers in session storage, engagement events (converter use, related links), and Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS, TTFB). We hash your IP for same-day visitor uniqueness and do not store raw IP in analytics. Raw event buffers are short-lived; aggregated metrics are retained up to 90 days, then deleted. You can withdraw Analytics consent anytime via Cookie settings.

Retention

- Security and operations logs (auth audit + system events): default 30 days (admin-adjustable, bounded), then pruned.

- Edge/server access logs: kept only as long as needed for security and operations (typically up to 90 days), then deleted or aggregated.

- First-party analytics aggregates: up to 90 days, then pruned.

- wc_consent / wc_locale / wc_theme / wc_accent: up to 1 year or until you clear cookies / change settings.

- AdSense cookies: controlled by Google under their policies after consent.

International transfers

Google may process advertising-related data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on Google’s contractual terms and Standard Contractual Clauses (or equivalent safeguards) as described in Google’s documentation.

Your rights

If GDPR (or similar law) applies, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time via Cookie settings without affecting lawfulness before withdrawal. You may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (for example Datatilsynet in Denmark, or your local DPA). We apply reasonable technical measures to protect systems that hold personal data.
